About Kinema.
Kinema is a native Mac app for frame-by-frame movement video analysis, made by IDEXA, the software studio of Nafish Ahmed, an independent developer in Bengaluru, India. It is in development: pre-orders are open, the beta starts December 2026 and version 1.0 ships by 31 January 2027.
Why Kinema exists
Physiotherapists, bike fitters and coaches measure movement on video: step to the right frame, click the joints, read the angle, compare with last time. The free tool many of them learned on, Kinovea, is Windows-only and does not run on Apple silicon Macs, even through Parallels (Kinovea download page, checked 30 October 2026). Kinema brings that work to the Mac as a native app, and adds what a practice needs around it: clients and sessions, side-by-side comparison and a one-page report.
How it is built
- Written natively for macOS in Swift, for Macs with Apple silicon.
- Every measurement is placed on an exactly decoded frame of the original video, up to 240 frames a second.
- Video and client data stay on your Mac. No account, no cloud upload, no analytics.
